- Click on the map to define the point from which you want to measure. Your cursor will be a 'cross' shape and your point will be marked by a red dot.
- As you move your cursor, the distance from your dot will be shown at the top of the map
display as the Segment length. Each red line connected by 2 dots is a
Segment.
- Click somewhere else on the map to create a second red dot. The
distance of this segment is now shown in the Total distance at the top of the map.
- As you create more segments, the total distance
and area of these segments is displayed. The tool will close
the line segments using a red dashed line. As you add
additional segments the dashed line will be redrawn to close the
shape. Distance will be displayed in feet while area
will be displayed in both square feet and acres.
- To clear the measuring tool click the
Clear Selection
tool.
