Clicking the Layers tab gives you a choice of layers to display (turn on) on the map.

Layers Tab Hierarchy

·        This tab contains groups that contain similar features. 

·        Each group () may be made visible or hidden by checking/un-checking the box next to it.  When this occurs all the features within the group are turned on/off. 

·        Each group contain individual layers that can be individually made visible by checking/un-checking the box next to it.

o       Each layer can be made visible or hidden by checking/un-checking the box next to it.

o       To activate a layer – click the radio () button next to it.

o        A thematic () displays a layer divided into sections based on an attribute – click the icon to expand the thematic.

Note: Only the entire thematic can be made visible or hidden.

Layers tab Symbology

  A closed group.

  An open group.

  A map layer.

  A hidden group/layer.

  A visible group/layer.

  A visible layer, but not at this scale.

  A partially visible group (only some of the group’s layers are visible).

  An inactive layer.

  An active layer.

  A thematic

Refresh Map Options

  button – updates any changes made on the Layers tab.

  box – check to automatically update the map whenever a group/layer is made visible or hidden.
